A new Stardew Valley mod just gave players the chance to replace a key character with none other than New York City's very own Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Modder NewCapAm has officially unveiled their latest Stardew Valley mod, which replaces Pelican Town's Mayor Lewis with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani. As noted by NewCapAm on Reddit, the mod offers slightly altered dialogue, with plans for future updates including cutscenes featuring Mamdani.
Stardew Valley Players Can Add Mayor Mamdani to Their Game
Although the Mamdani mod was pulled from the Nexus platform just ten hours after it was originally published, gamers can still find the link for the mod on Reddit. NewCapAm also noted that they are attempting to upload the mod to other platforms such as CursedForge in the near future.
Created, developed, and published by Eric Barone, better known as ConcernedApe, Stardew Valley was released in 2016 and quickly established itself as the then-latest breakout hit cozy game. Like titles such as Harvest Moon before it, Stardew Valley drops players into the middle of a picturesque small town in a rural community that is waiting to be built back up to its former glory.
Mayor Lewis is one of over a dozen Stardew Valley NPCs who players will regularly interact with during any given playthrough of the title. While players will receive different notices and letters from Mayor Lewis at semiregular intervals, he is not counted among the many romanceable NPCs that Stardew Valley features as its leading cast of characters, much to the chagrin of many Mamdani fans.
On top of the expected trappings and tropes of the farm life sim genre, Stardew Valley offers players near endless opportunities for exploration, as well as the rare opportunity for combat against all manner of unexpected threats. Upon its release, Stardew Valley was met with generally positive reviews, with the game ultimately being hailed as one of the greatest of all time following numerous post-game developments and re-releases that expanded upon the original experience.
