Morph 4K Firmware v4.0.65

PixelFX have just released a new beta firmware for their Morph 4K that adds more bezel options, as well as the ability to take input screenshots in Universal Adaptive mode. To get it, simply make sure you’re on the beta update channel, then Check For Updates. As a note, if you’re on a very early firmware revision, you’ll first need to update to v3, then switch to the beta channel and update to the latest. Pre-orders are currently open on the next round of M4K’s, which will ship early next year and the M2K is currently in stock and ready to ship. More info below the links:

Let’s start with the Bezel’s. At the moment, you’ll need to join their Discord server for a link to the ones they’re currently offering. After adding them to your MicroSD card, to access them, you need to be in Physical Display Model mode and enable them in Video\RetroFX. Left and right toggles some options, while others have sub-menu’s as well by hitting Ok. Loading a bezel takes a long time, however you can exit the menu and continue playing while it loads. I’m wary of full bezels though, as it seems like something that could cause burn-in (or at least image retention) pretty easily. At the moment, the “PDM-20 Inner Corner” one is my current favorite (demo’d in the above screenshot), as it’s barely a bezel at all; You get the lighting effects with much less of a chance of burn-in.

You can check out the screenshot option, as long as you switch the M4K over to Universal Adaptive mode. Then hitting the button on the remote located to the lower-left of the dpad saves a screenshot of the input signal to the MicroSD. It doesn’t interrupt gameplay and saves pretty quickly. I uploaded these untouched from what was saved to the MicroSD card, so you can see for yourself – Load either into image editing software like Krita or Photoshop, then scale them via nearest-neighbor. For the MiSTer Direct Video (HDMI) example, you can just do a 10x NN scale. The second example is RGB SCART via generic input mode. For that, first scale 4x vertically via NN to match the oversampling, then scale evenly afterwards if you’d like; Please note, I was having issues with the Analog Bridge I borrowed, so that won’t represent the quality you should expect, just the format:
