A new PS5 Digital costs around $600, but even so the PlayStation 5 itself continues to outpace the PS4 and PS3 within the same timespan.
According to Circana’s Mat Piscatella, the PS5 is outselling the PS4 by 1%, basing it off of the same 71st month of the console’s lifespan. Meanwhile, it was more noticeably outselling the PS3, sitting at a 30% increase.
Now, just like many people, I’m surprised at how it can manage to maintain a lead, considering the trials it had to go through early in its life as well as lacking many hard-hitting exclusive releases. It seems Sony wants to up their game for the tail-end of the PS5 gen, hopefully also managing to keep that momentum with the PlayStation 6. Fans have the likes of God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, and Intergalactic on the docket, as well as a God of War trilogy remake in the pipeline.
